Preview: Frankie Rose and Franz Ferdinand @ Orpheum Theatre 10.20.13

Hailing from Brooklyn, Frankie Rose is already a veteran of New York City’s ever-changing indie rock scene. She spent time as a member of Vivian Girls, Crystal Stilts and Dum Dum Girls before venturing out on her own with a series of records that deal in airy, shoegazey pop. Her latest, Herein Wild, was released earlier this year. With the help of her ace three-piece backing band, Rose also puts on a rather excellent live show. You might have caught her over the summer at the Pitchfork Music Festival, or just a few weekends back at our very own Tastemakers Presents.
Whether you’ve yet to catch a set or simply need to see another, Rose’s show this coming Sunday with Franz Ferdinand comes highly recommended. Rose is currently touring North America with the Scottish post-punk/dance-rock revivalists, who also have a new record out this year entitled Right Thoughts, Right Words, Right Action. It’s been a while since the band has hit North American shores, and with Rose an an opening act, this should be a good one. Tickets for their stop at the Orpheum Theatre this very weekend are available now.
