Five Shows Not to Miss This Fall

by Emily Cassel, published July 22nd 2011

We may only be halfway through summer, but that doesn’t mean it’s too early to start buying tickets for great tours rolling through Boston this fall. So whether you’re returning to Beantown in September or just keeping up with your 9 to 5, here are five shows you won’t want to miss come autumn ‘€“ mark your calendars!

Two Door Cinema Club
9/08 @ Royale

I have a terrible confession: I’ve never seen Two Door Cinema Club live. But after hearing multiple friends hail them for their fun and crazy performances, I’m not planning on missing out this time around, and neither should you!

The Head and the Heart
9/30 @ Royale

Do you like Seattle? Bluesy folk rock? Whiskey-soaked vocals? Mumford and Sons? Then you will love this band. And with support from Thao with the Get Down Stay Down and The Devil Whale, this promises to be an evening to remember.

WILD FLAG
10/14 @ Paradise

If you haven’t listened to this female supergroup, do it now. Made up of Carrie Brownstein and Janet Weiss (ex-Sleater-Kinney), Rebecca Cole (ex-Minders) and Mary Timony (ex-Helium), Wild Flag’s music resonates like some kind of psychedelic punk party, and you’ll definitely want to check them out.

The AP Fall Tour 2011
10/16 @ House of Blues

Just when you thought Alternative Press was becoming synonymous with garbage like Blood on the Dance Floor, they put together a fall tour featuring Four Year Strong, Gallows, Title Fight, the Swellers and Sharks. Here’s to second chances!

We Were Promised Jetpacks
10/28 @ Paradise

Scotland’s We Were Promised Jetpacks are just… so good. They’ll be on tour this fall to support their upcoming sophomore effort In the Pit of the Stomach, and judging by the driving first single ‘€œAct on Impulse,’€ it’s going to be every bit as good as 2009′s These Four Walls.
